Outsiders: Bongo Joe Records w/ Las Olas by Loïc Diaz Ronda
Las Olas is an artistic and curatorial project that explores a specific period in the history of Spain—the years 1975–1990—and its underground music scene. This research stems from a personal quest, an intimate need to connect with and understand a period that I experienced only intermittently and through the lens of childhood and early adolescence. I’m of Spanish origin and grew up in France, but I’ve been going to Madrid every year for fairly long periods for as long as I can remember. As the summers went by in the Spanish capital, I sensed that something was changing irreversibly in my family, on the street, in the atmosphere, on television, in people’s clothing, and in their attitudes, without understanding exactly what was happening.
