Outsiders: Retro Cassetta & Giulia Giu - Dahira Moroccan Band

This month, we revisit Dahira through a selection of Moroccan cassette recordings from the 1980s and early 1990s. Known as the “musical groups phenomenon,” this wave of popular music emerged in the 1970s and travelled across Morocco through markets, taxis, cafés and homes. Driven by powerful voices, percussion, bendir, guembri, banjo, mandolin and sometimes electric guitar, it became the soundtrack of generations.
