Octopus Skin: The Grace of Not Being What You Believe You Are w/ Munda (live)
In a creative gesture, octopuses carry the world on their skin. They 'make world' - not through imitation or adaptation, but by emancipating themselves from what they are to become their surroundings. I find in this a resonance with the Sufi concept of fana - the dissolution of the ego. This programme is an exploration of resonances between experimental music and Sufi sonic practices. It is not about Sufi music or direct influences, but about listening for shared elements: body listening, repetition, drone, silence, trance or slowness. The selection moves through field recordings, chants, ritualistic rhythms, experimental electronics and repetitive structures. Some connections may be obvious, others deliberately difficult to hear. Not a claim of equivalence, but an invitation to find the portal in unexpected tunes.
