Tehrangeles Dancewave w/ Katayoun

Sonic Imaginaries enters the euphoric world of 1990s-2000s Tehrangeles, a diasporic hub of Iranian music in Los Angeles. This show is an ode to the Persian-language eurodance, trance-pop, and electropop. Drawing from the mixed-bag catalogues of these artists, I’ve brought tracks together that follow connections between global sounds that might not otherwise be heard as belonging to the same world. My focus is on creating a different Tehrangeles story, one told through four-to-the-floor beats, big synths, and unapologetic pop maximalism. This show continues my ongoing Sonic Imaginaries exploration of the 1990s-2000s dance wave from the Iranian diaspora. Look out for earlier iterations in the series from 2024-2025.
