System Failure is saying goodbye to 2025 with a tribute to Jun Togawa, Japanese underground icon, exploring different phases of her career, through personal and collaborative works.
From the avant-garde duo Guernica (1982-1989) with Koji Ueno, the new wave band Yapoos (1983), to her solo works and collaborations, this episode features a range of her different musical directions and projects, including remakes of traditional japanese and children songs, covers produced by Haruomi Hosono (Yellow Magic Orchestra), who released Togawa's music on Yen Records, the label he co-funded with Yukihiro Takahashi. In the episode you will also hear the infamous TOTO bidet commercial that she starred in during the 80’s, as well as excerpts from a 1989 TV documentary with Jun exploring Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
