Repetition is how our brains register sound as music. It's everywhere in everything, and yet we never actively think about what repetition is actually doing to a song, or to us. Whether it's the repetition of short loops or riffs, or structures over time, or thematic references, or cultural movements, it's the invisible tool that brings us into trance the moment we start to listen.
