The New Year usually comes with a hope for something new. Winter is gradually disappearing, the days are getting longer, and so is the anticipation for the end of darkness. These themes also occurred in Slovak music.
The opening show of this year features a collection of compositions that signify the moment of change. Whether it is the manifestations of postmodernism in the 1970s work of Jozef Malovec, protest chamber compositions by Martin Burlas, compositional plurality, and recycling of practices from the "non-classical music" of the ensemble Požoň Sentimentál, or a selection drawn from the archives of the Experimental Studio of Slovak Radio in Bratislava. All of this is decorated with new releases from labels such as Řehole, Radio Fantasia and others. Happy New Year friends!
